AZRA (45) is a professional photographer who has a family portrait studio. Day in and day out, she is surrounded by wedding couples and families, who follow her instructions and pose and smile for the camera. For some time now, she has wanted to divorce her husband NIKO (50), who emotionally and physically abuses her. But with his psychological manipulation and threats that, in the case of their divorce, he will get custody of their daughter JELENA (10), Niko again and again forces Azra to desist.
Tijana Zinajić (1973) studied French and Philosophy at the Faculty of Arts in Ljubljana and later graduated in Theatre Directing from the Academy of Theatre, Radio, Film and Television. She works as a theatre director, film director, actress and acting coach and has worked as a casting director for many Slovenian films and series. She has received numerous national and international awards for her work. Azra is her second feature film.
December is a Ljubljana-based production company founded in 2013 by Vlado Bulajić and Lija Pogačnik (EAVE, EFA, FPS). With debut features Inventory (dir. Darko Sinko, 2021, San Sebastián) and Bitch, a Derogatory Term for a Woman (dir. Tijana Zinajić, 2021, Valencia) December established its presence internationally. The company later produced documentaries 2017 (dir. Goran Vojnović, 2022) and The Last Cowboy (dir. Tadej Čater, 2024, Sarajevo), and a debut feature Fantasy (dir. Kukla, 2025, Loca…
